Here we go again

Wasn't Gates one of the people that was concerned about the number of technology students enrolling and graduating from the universities? Odd, the way that he's encouraging them to adopt such a career path.

Now why would any student consider a technology career when the industry is rife with excessive demands and hours (ie EA), wage undercutting from H-1B visa worker imports (many), off shoring and being forced to train your off shore replacement just before you get dismissed (HP, Dell, etc.), increased PHB's that have no clue what it takes to get the job done and continue to reduce the resources and then wonder why the project fails, followed shortly by blaming the technical employees and using the incident to off shore more.

Seems to me that Gates wants it both ways at all times.

What nobody seems to want to realize or talk about is that the US standard of living is draining over to the second and third world nations, and will continue to do so until the standards of living equal out. Such is the environment of this great global economy idea.

By the time the standards of living balance, the typical US worker will be fighting with the illegal immigrants picking produce in the western states with the same lack of opportunities and the same hopelessness.

While at the same time the robber baron board members still go around blowing million dollar bonuses up each others behinds and signing each other on as CxOs with financially irresponsible employment contracts.

The more I come to realize this reality, the more I think that NAFTA and the soon to be passed (or as it already been passed) Central American NAFTA is a means for those in control to continue to exploit the proletariat, but this time in greater number and across national boundaries.
