Wrong!
And you get it straight from me -someone who spent almost 7 years on Visa H1B - now "green card" holder.

The reality of life cost will not allow for as cheap labor as abroad.

You cannot compare H1B visa in the USA who makes $20-$30 an hour to someone in India who makes $2-3$ an hour.

Who would you pick to compete against? Add to that fact that you have a few hundred thousand immigrants that can do IT here in the USA and millions in India and China who could do the same. They do not need to graduate from MIT (BTW MIT is overrated in my opinion - opinion of MS holder from some of European universities who knows PhD's from foreign universities hired as senior scientist in headquarters of such giants like Intel).

What is really needed is that H1B holders do not feel like losers because they have 10 days to leave when they lose the job (mind the families who do not have permit for work on H4B visa and they have to be supported by head holding H1B - easy life eeeh?).

The process of "green card" should be sped up for IT workers so they can build their lives in the USA. The salaries grow, but let me assure you that foreign worker in the USA does not get so far less than fresh graduate from a college. They start the life although they frequently have and bring far more than US college graduates. Yes families too, but can you sacrifice and leave your own family and go abroad for years to work? Be honest when answering the question. Try to be honest when you are after you are 30 and see what you say. Life is not as easy as American parents say. They are excellent in making impresions and building safety for their heirs, but meet the reality.
