Long term strategy
---I think in the long run it can only hurt Apple by locking out other music stores to it player---

Yes, but in the short term, it's a huge advantage. Right now, Apple can use their limited combo to make themselves the "de facto" standard, and watch all the competition go bankrupt and fade away (anyone remember the BuyMusic store with all those Tommy Lee ads?). Once the iTMS is firmly established and entrenched, look for Apple to loosen things up, to license their FairPlay technology. So far they've been cautious, but have licensed it out to companies like Motorola and HP.

---Jobs has to make a decision before sales start slipping.---

This is a key point. Right now, there's no reason to change anything, as both products are flying high.
