if the OS runs on a PC, it is a commodity item.
It will be sold with every (or most every) commodity type PC (Dell, IBM/Lenovo. HP, etc.). There is nothing really special about one OS over another, though. They have to sell to the installed base as that is who they compete with most (all current OS sales are to people either just getting a PC or upgrading, thus installed base) or those just getting a machine for the first time (most likely a student or retired person).
