Linux is as powerful as the admin
"How is Linux going to save you money when you have to develop, test, and re-write custom windows applications?"

Why would you do that? I would prefer to write something that actually works. I have a few applications at work that are web based using java It runs on Windows, Solaris, Linux, and even OSX.

"Second thought, they should 'Off Shore' all IT jobs so you could only dream of Linux at home. When your job is 'Off Shored' because you are too expensive, like you say MS is, what will you be saying then?

Lastly, if everyone becomes a Linux 'expert' then there will be NO need for any System Admins anylonger. If so they can administer the system from India or China. So there you go, now you can have your linux on welfare or unemployment. Because you will replaced with a cheaper counter part, just like you said about Windows."

If you have ever talked to foreign IT support you wouldnt have even made that statment. I feel I am pretty tollerable with people of different cultures accents, but when I am trying to hammer technical details of a hardware/software issue the last thing I need is to ask the guy to repeat himeself because I cant understand what te hell he is saying.

So many companies have lost my business this year because the offered MS only solutions, whether it was accessable through SMB or .net. That was thier only solution and the reason they did not win the contract. If you want to win my business show me somthing that I can use on MS, OSX, Linux and UNIX.
