macs and linux market percentage
Gartner a few months ago stated results of a survey (reported by
zdnet) that Linux DESKTOPS have overtaken Macs. Macs had 3%
of the market.
And this is based on SALES. Obviously any Linux desktop that
was say an upgraded old Windows desktop wouldn't figure in the
sales survey.
Perhaps you're missing all the regular announcements of this
large corp, that large corp, that gov department moving to all
linux desktops.
Linux is growing at a vast rate. And lots and lots of hardware
running it as an embedded OS.
So even based on sales, Windows is heading for the 90% of
DESKTOPs figure: a survey of actual machines in use *could*
reflect much higher penetration.
