Java/Security Update
Updating a remore server is not so successful... with only a
command-line tool or the Server Admin.

The "Update" option with Server Admin already thinks it is
installed - so there is no option to re-install. The su comman-
line 'update_prebinding -root / -force' is only partially
successful: at the end it gives the diagnostic "1829 files
successfully prebound, 19 files unsuccessfully prebound",
referring to sections like

"update_prebinding (finding dependent libraries for /System/
Library/Frameworks/JavaWOExtensions.framework/Versions/A/
JavaWOExtensions): update_prebinding: object: /System/Library/
Frameworks/JavaWOExtensions.framework/Versions/A/
JavaWOExtensions truncated or malformed object (extrefsymoff
field plus nextrefsyms field times sizeof(struct dylib_reference)
of LC_DYSYMTAB command 7 extends past the end of the file)"

Java applications run, but with error messages such as "HotSpot
not at correct virtual address. Sharing disabled." But most
importantly, re-booting it outs you back at square one.

Currently trying to figure out how to re-apply the Security
update and Java 1.4.2 updates when the system already tinks it
has them in place.

This was on a mission-critical operational system. Gonna be a
long day...
