- Vendor Culpability
- Any system admin worth his salt will run patches through a test environment prior to rolling them out to production. That said, the admin is only responisble to his company. The vendor is responsible to all of their customers, even the ones with no clue about IT. Mike's right, the least the vendor can do is test the patch on common configurations, then support it in special circumstances.
