I'm puzzled: Exactly what about Macromedia is NOT x-platform?
Dude, do you know what you're talking about?

If you want to target all common browsers, you don't use GoLive
-- you use Dreamweaver.

If you're talking about Flash, the issue isn't the software
company -- it's poor designers not accounting for degradation.

If you're talking about PDF -- well, that's not really a web
format. In fact, its usability for online document delivery is
execreble. It's too deeply print-centric: Paging up and down in
simulated 8.5x11 frames, for god's sake?

Adobe are old and tired and don't really have a clue where to go
next. They really only understand the print-centric world;
Macromedia understands the fully digital world. Adobe
desperately needs their expertise.

Which is not to say that I think they'll make a success of it. Right
now, I think this is probably going to be a small disaster.
