Die, Schlockwave Trash, die !!!

It ain't 100% by any stretch of the imagination. I've ripped Schlockwave-Trash out of my home machine (linux) after installing it out of curiousity. And I never bothered installing the Firefox-compatable plugin at work (Windows) when I installed Firefox. I'm not the only one. And one of the most-downloaded Firefox extensions is "Flashblock". So the fact that the Schlockwave-Trash plugin is installed doesn't mean that it's being used. Your web-surfing experience will be greatly improved by removing it, thereby disabling the flashing, moving, floating ads. Try it, you'll like it.

BTW, IE users had to click extra buttons to opt-out of getting Weatherbug, and now YahooToolbar, as an "extra" when downloading the latest version of Flash. Talk about corporate sleaze.

Adobe has been getting bad too. Their reader has slowly been evolving into a billboard urging you to buy their other products. Not quite as bad as Apple's Quicktime nagware, but getting there. The menu bars have also been getting chunkier and taking up more screen real-estate recently, too. In linux, I use Xpdf, which concentrates on displaying pdfs (Wow, what a concept). It has a nice clean minimalist menu and a status bar. Anything else can be accessed by right-clicking.
