Which just goes to show
That you have no idea about either of these apps, and probably
even less of Adobe?s and Macromedia?s other stables of apps.

PDF ? has basically become the defacto format for printing and
print advertising. Many, many newspapers and magazines have/
are changing to a pdf workflow. Many only accept ads in pdf
format now. If you think this is small, think of how many papers
and magazines there are. Then go to stores ? ALL stores - and
look at all those packages ? all PRINTED and many from PDF with
more in the near future. Used almost exclusively by advertising
and design for delivery of proofs, with document comments
directly on the document, along with text submission. Is rapidly
gaining use as a web delivery tool because it negates any
necessity for web design ? especially true for gov?t agencies &
academia. It is the ONLY web format that maintains exact
duplication of original doc. Used to deliver forms over web, to
be filled out on computer and returned, again maintaining
content integrity. That?s just a few of it?s many uses.

Flash ? Used extensively in TV/movie bus to make the things
that you are supposed to think the actor is doing on a computer
? including the sound effects. Used in the industrial design field
to render rotations of finished designs, like a car. Used in the
catalog industry, with the page flip effect, to judge how the
catalog ?flows?.

Both companies also develop large backend apps for corporate/
gov?t use. Macromedia has very strong backend apps for
maintaining web content without the need ofr the author to
understand html, etc. Think online publications here, where text
content is subject to rapid change.

Adobe offers backend program for managing the entire creation
to print cycle. They also offer enterprise level pdf solutions for
companies to maintain data in it?s original format.

Both companies solutions are independent of anything to do
with Microsoft other than the basic OS. Mac, Linux, and most
UNIX users can access and create both pdf and flash, as both are
open formats.
