Would have to be Flash streaming media.
And the EC's big point in pushing Real was, they didn't want Microsoft dominating specifically streaming media. The EC decided Microsoft's competition was Real, not Flash, and it needed help.
Selling XP Null is not going to be a big help to Real.
Flash is jumping into the battle just as a decision was being reached, if the EC is to be believed. (Though I don't usually believe them, so who knows?)

As the article says in a quote, Microsoft is unlikely to succeed in killing off pdf's. Particularly because they are popular in colleges and universities, thriving hubs of anti-capitalism. (Yes, that's annoying. Sorry.)

But if businesses are happy with Office formats, Microsoft is okay. And they've worked with other companies to develop $50 pdf to doc software.
They're probably not doing badly. Maybe not as well as they'd like, but not badly.
