SAP doesn't dominate 90% of the market. SAP doesn't require you to run SAP OS. SAP doesn't force its competitors out of business by building a similar product and using it to break other products. SAP doesn't bundle SAP Media player with its software in such a way that SAP Media play can not be removed.

SAP doesn't have any enemies in the database world because it didn't piss off its competitors through cut-throat and illegal tactics.

IBM turned to Opensource because the company seen how the world was reacting to the bad publicity against MS in the Monopoly trial. IBM wanted something to lure people away from Microsoft. Linux was the up and coming thing and so it became the choice.
