In defense of RedHat (not that they should need it)
"If they are under the radar, it is only because they are crashing into the ground."

Strange their stock price over the last 12 months appears strong. Revenue up and starting to get profitable. No - doesn't look like crashing into the ground anytime soon.

"Hmm, the last ambition that I read was that they were going to conquer the desktop market and send Microsoft running for cover and we see how far they got there."

Funny I remember their CEO recommeding users stay with windows on the desktop for now. Then again this was way back in Nov 03.

"I have had nothing but bad experiences with Redhat quality control and service. Having been a Redhat customer since version 4.x I recently switched to SuSE and I am much more satisfied with the quality of their product."

So to confirm, you stuck with RedHat distributions since 98 even though you had "nothing but bad experiences". Not taking anything away from SuSE's very fine product, but I'd gamble you must have had some positive experiences or you are very slow.

RedHat has given the Linux community the Fedora project, a total free Linux distribution. For this, anaconda, rpm (and many others), and the exposure they've brought to Linux I for one are very grateful.
