Native Java code is neat...
Yes, I've been playing with some of these GCJ compiled packages piece meal. Most modern JVM's are so fast now a days that there isn't much of a performance benefit, but there is definately a RAM usage benefit.

The Java code that you deploy to RHAS would be in byte-code format (within a jar, ear, war, etc.) though. Will RHAS compile your code down to native with GCJ, or will their AS compile JIT like other JVM's? Perhaps the option to do both?

If RHAS doesn't precompile deployed code down to native code then I think their performance will be much lower than a server running a Sun, IBM, or BEA JVM. GNU's JVM (gij) is much slower than the other three -- though I'm sure it will get faster.
