Really?
I launched the sponsored version of Opera and stared at my Windows task manager for a few minutes. Once Opera started, the CPU usage quickly dropped to 0%. Over the course of a few minutes, I did see two spikes that each lasted a fraction of a second. One went up to 2% and the other went to 4%.

If there were such a major defect in the version on your Sun, I would have expected that the Opera people would have noticed it. Alternatively, it's possible that Windows is just so far superior to Sun that your workstation can't handle it. Yes, I'm kidding. Or it's possible that there is an installation issue on your machine.

For a browser that prides itself on performance, I'd be very surprised if what you are saying is indicative of what Opera users can expect.

This morning, I had Mozilla eating away at my CPU when it was trying to open a PDF. It got stuck for quite a few minutes, and might have stayed that way indefinitely. Killing Acrobat made things worse, and killing Mozilla brought things back to normal. I could have posted that Mozilla was using 95% of my CPU for no reason, but I know better. It was an aberration. I expect that your results are not typical either.
