Crappy software is abundant on every OS. Visit any Windows freeware/shareware website and you'll find that 90% or more is total garbage.

Linux made it as an alternative desktop many years ago. I'm sorry you didn't get the memo. Many tens of millions of people use it as a desktop system. Millions of people like myself use it as their only desktop system. Strangely, they don't require anyone's blessing to do so.

"The GUI" is no crappier than Windows. And "The GUI" is entirely modular so you can replace the parts you find crappy. Ultimately, I can do anything you can do and I don't have any EULAs, CALs, and who knows what other legal agreements hanging around my neck like a noose.

It's irritating to see Linux-tourists berate Linux because they don't know how to accomplish specific tasks. It doesn't mean those tasks can't be done and done fairly easily. If you don't use Linux every day on your desktop then you're in no position to say one way or the other how crappy it is. Sure there are annoyances but there are annoyances with any system. I find that for me Linux is infinitely less annoying than other desktop systems.
