Guessing at how a dual boot would be used.
I suspect the XP side would be used for a pirated copy of Office, which can provide a marketable skill. What edition of Office could vary with the capabilites of the pc.

It could also be used for any specialized software that would be helpful in the person's existing business. The better known, at least, applications for these purposes are probably in Windows.

On the Linux side, the government is known to be pushing Linux, and governments hire. People may get to know Linux and its applications in order to qualify for a government job.

In short, practical applications (pun intended).


Plus, exposure to the world, if they can get internet access, would be very useful, probably more so than in a cafe.
