Why ALWAYS assume sinister intent with Microsoft?

>> I've always wondered why Microsoft is getting into the anti-spam campaign. Fighting spam should be left up to the local, state/provincial, or federal governments. Why should a software company get into the act? It might have something to do with removing the stigma that has plagued Microsoft for years. People associate "bad" computer things with Microsoft. Microsoft thinks that if they fight against spam, their image may improve. <<

How about this:
1) Microsoft's Hotmail receives billions of SPAM messages per year
2) Spammers use and forge Hotmail addresses, in combination with (1) make the service unusable for many people.

Those in of themselves are sufficient business reasons for Microsoft to pursue spammers. On a more important issue, SPAM plagues all Internet users.. it is a common fight with a common enemy, and we must all do whatever we can to defeat these scumbags.

Microsoft should be congratulated for taking a leading role in the fight against SPAM.
