And so are you
>>There is a term we have for people like you: unemployed!<<

All commercial developers are unemployed. Oh, your real good. - NOT!

>>Ok, keep whining! You are good at it, I can tell!<<

I guess if someone opines he is a whiner. You are more opinionated than most. Where does that leave you?

>>Doesn't change where it came from!<<

Berkeley is not BBN. BBN's stack wasn't used. Nice try.

>>He doen't deny it to corporations, he just says that if you use the code you must agree to abide by the license. This is just normal business practices. If I wrote the code, I have the right to set teh terms for its usage.<<

No you wouldn't. You also would have to abide by the GPL. But if you wrote your own code it would be proprietory. Why don't you since you let everyone believe you are a guru. You should rake in a fortune.

>>Corporatons do compete, though they don't innovate much! Corporations compete on a global basis, consolidate operations and cut redundancies (do RIFs of people like you). That is not relavent to the discussion, just a tangent. As to creating jobs, corporations automate processes to ct the labor force (payroll) to meed stockholder financial expectations (and pay dividents to people like me).<<

Corporations never innovated much. It was the little guy. Corporations provided the deep pockets to bring your creation to the masses. You have to learn to compromise or share. Denying yourself IP to prevent these corporations like the GPL states, is stupid.

>>IN the old days, you had typing pools (lots of people working, low skill requirements), then they got word processing which reduced the needs for people and increased the skill demands. Then they got networked machines, again increasingthe skill requirements and redusing the staffing demands.

In manufacturing, corporations moved to automation to reduce headcount and increase the skill requirements for those that they kept. As this went global (think multinational corporation), they could lookfor the higher skill lower cost workes in any location around the workd (popular places now include India, Eastern European countries). Also holds true for computer work.<<

As for the old days, people had greater not less skills. Automation was a way of employing less talented people and stepping up production. A CNC machinist would learn how to use a program but lose all the old fashion skills, like setup machine prep and a host of others. Automation with machinery always reduced the skills to get a cheaper operator.

>>Persoanlly, I think this is great though it does not apply to me, I run my own business in a $50 billion+ global market. I can hire contractors in any part of the world, pay them the local rate (often less than what an American or European typically costs) and make lots of money! Nice thing about corporations is the tax protections offered to me over some staffer!<<

So those corporations that do not care must apply to you. You are one convoluted piece of work.
