Here is a guy that let a community use his proprietory product for free.

There were others, Linus just chose to move the code repository here after using an email based system. Ther are others just as there were othere before it.

There was no open source version of it.

There have been many source code control systems, even internet based ones for years! Unix systems have had SCCS, RCS, CVS, Subversion, ...

They repaid him by wanting to copy his product that would make it worthless.

Lins decided to move to another source management system, this is not a big deal!

At least he knew them pretty well. Sometimes you have to tell a spiritual leader to p*ss off. RMS will destroy this movement quicker than anyone else will.

This part of your post just sounds clueless!
