Its just new ...
Having used Mandrake since 1999, I have become really used to the Mandrake name. Linux Mandrake, then Mandrake Linux, and finally MandrakeLinux. But I think the new name will catch on. It is apparently unique and that is a big plus. In any case, personally, I would rather use a great product with an ugly name than an ugly product with a great name any day. And I think the quality of the product will eventually rub off on the name.

Mandrake needed a new beginning anyway after all the water under the bridge. Hopefully they make the best of this once in a lifetime opportunity. I can't imagine a better fit for a merger partner than Conectiva. The respective communities just have so much in common in terms of values and in terms of willingness to innovate outside of the box. I think its a great combination. I look forward to great things from Mandriva.
