I think they used the magic wand and other things.
If they only used the name Mandrake, they would have been safe. And, even then, they could have cut a deal where they changed their logos, or paid them something and keep using the name Mandrake. Actually, the people at the comic are stupid for pursuing this, since the extra publicity could only help them, and could not hurt them.
