The next step in the collapse of the education system in the U.S.
Now, teachers won't only have to not know the material, nor how to teach, but they don't have to know how to evaluate the work either!

My wife teaches in a U.S. middle school, and is constantly telling me horror stories about how stupid the teachers are. The kids are the ones who are losing, though. She shows me some of the 'required teaching' she has to present to her 8th graders, and it is stuff that I learned in 4th grade. The schools keep lowering the standards so the government won't cut their funding. (Lower standards = more kids 'passing'.) Her school quit giving 'F' grades three years ago, also to maintain their funding. It really irks her when she has to give a student a 'D' for a score of 40%. It's as if the schools are applying Worldcom accounting techniques to the grading system to make the numbers acceptable to the government.

I see the direct result of this myself, because in the evenings, I teach martial arts to some of the same kids. It is amazing how little they know for their ages. It is depressing how little motivation some of them have.
