Die, schlockwave trash, die
As is the case with many specialized plugins, there are small niches where Macromedia's product is appropriate. Joe Cartoon (frog in a blender) at http://joecartoon.atomfilms.com/pages/home/ is one such example. But do you *REALLY* expect Macromedia to tell 99% of their customers to not buy their product, because its use annoys people browsing the web.

99% of sites that run this garbage only do it to annoyingly grab your attention with talking/moving ads. I find that my browsing experience is greatly enhanced by removing Flash.

Flash is the enemy of enjoyable web browsing *REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT'S OPEN OR CLOSED SOURCE*. If Flash whithers away to the point where it only shows up on the 1 or 2 % of websites where it's appropriate, I'd consider installing it. For now, I'll skip the blinking ads, thank you.
