- WindowsXP is UNIX based

Ok, Clearly WindowsXP is not Unix based. It is VMS based but that is another thread.
My WindowsXP machine has
/bin /usr /lib /usr/man
ls cp tar ps sleep split sort su strace cat vi
all those wonderful UNIX commands. I can compile and run any POSIX compliant UNIX c-program.
You definition of "UNIX based" seems to apply to my WindowsXP machine.
"Inspired by" does not mean based on.
"Looking like" does not mean based on.
"Compatible with" does not mean based on.
