Unix != Minix != Linix
The point is that Minix while looking a lot like Unix is in no way Unix like. Unix is a monolithic kernel from the stone age of operating systems. Minix was a "cutting" edge teaching tool from Tanembaum demonstrating a microkernel with message passing communication at the kernel level. Minix even has the file system processes running as user process (at least that is what I recall from looking at it). Minix is definitly not Unix to a kernel programmer, it does however look a lot like Unix at the user level.
