IBM: Proprietary technology not enough

You knew I would post so I say:

When you are a hardware company, you have the luxury to take this position. I believe IBM will use linux on all of its commodiaty hardware but use AIX on its very profitable hardware. They will not port lucrative AIX projects to linux. This will gut out the AIX market. So linux is good as long as it doesn't hurt AIX and destroys our competition. They are hypocrites

Never said they were stupid. Just playing both sides of the fence to torpedo Microsoft. They are hurting Sun and HP-UX more than MS. MS will not embrace linux even loosely because that would show everyone they endorse them. Would make it harder to fight the GPL later on. I was wondering when the patent depth charges are going to happen. When MS and IBM are pounding each other, there will be a cease fire, then a joint business venture and linux will be sacrificed at the negotation table.

Linux will then have to find another Daddy Warbucks. In empires there are no friends. Just alliances.
