"Open source is a flawed business model"

I'd even go a step farther with that as say Open Source isn't a buisness model at all.

I think that's what causes the problem. People don't understand that software doesn't have to be a business model and no one should for it to be or force it not to be. Open source is great for those of us who don't want to be in the business of developing software and marketing it. If I write software to make my business function better and it helps my business to have my customers use my software and even if my competitors use it I benifit then GPL is just great for me.
