There is no compelling reason to purchase an e-book over a traditional paper copy.

Readers that cost hundreds of dollars are unacceptable.
Digital rights that are less than the rights granted when you purchase a paper copy are unacceptable.

If these issues can be fixed (there are a few more.. but these are the most pressing), then e-books might take off. As is, there is no compelling reason to choose an electronic version over a paper copy.
