Making money with Linux?
I will ASSUME that Cognos is a proprietary software that is built on top of Linux. How many people (Anton, John Carroll, etc.) have said that you can't make money with Linux/GNU? As >>I<< has said before, if you want a "good-enough" package, you go for Open Source. If you want "specialized" package with great support - you can still buy proprietary. If M$ came out with Office for Linux - how many people would BUY this software, as opposed to using Open Office? I suspect that it would be a best-seller and M$ would make good money off of it. People will pay for good software! Heck, they even pay for BAD software (like Windoze . . .) wink
