I tend to agree the Appeals Court made a mistake.
In all honesty, I am not certain how the Appeals Court believes a patent registered in the US has authority in other countries unless there are recipical agreements between the two countries. (And no, I am not talking about just software.)

As an example: I could see where having a US patent would stop someone in another country from building a like product and importing it in to the US, but I would think that would be the limit of authority.

As other's have pointed out, the US does not run the rest of the world...
