That doesn't make sense at all
Ok lets assume MS has 94% of the market which it probably does but we really don't know for sure.

Now the remaining desktops from what I've read being Apple holding at 6% and 8% but for simplicity lets assume 5%

Now Linux I've read has anywhere 1% to 3% but to make it work lets assume 1%.

So that 94% + 5% + 1% = 100% there that works now.

Now where did Microsoft increase it's share from? It wasn't from the MAC since Windows won't run on MAC hardware. I high doubt it was from the Linux 1% with the news of all these companies switching to Linux, Linux user love Linux, and the fact that Linux has only 1% anyways.

In truth Microsoft can really only lose market share on the desktop unless they write an OS for hardware other than the X86 hardware.

It's like that game we all played as kids. That being King of the Montain. Microsoft is King and everyone else is trying to knock them off.
