Retail focuses on physical means for each of the following phases of "Feeling the need for goods to buying the goods".
1 Buyer-Seller matching,
2 Exploration for and selection of goods / prices,
3 Payment (it is face to face even if credit or debit cards are used for payment) for the goods selected
4 Delivery of goods
5 Return of the goods (if required)
Cost effective solutions are possible by increasing electronic means to meet the essential requirements of each of the above five phases and sub-phases. Insurance and courier services will need to be integrated.
