Browser Based Applications Are Dead

I've also heard the same thing that dpeterman said from other people regarding netsuite - you have to hire more people to do the same amount of work. While a browser is a great tool the surf the web it is very inefficient for data entry.

There is a new wave of applications coming called Smart Client applications which can run like a normal desktop application but still be able to connect to data over the internet like a browser based application. Microsoft will be using this approach in their "project green" application and salesforce is starting to use this for their offline versions.

A new company called interprisesuite has a application in beta now that uses smart client technology and is priced comparable to quickbooks. It looks very promising.
