This why MS is on top
Microsoft gave the Users what they wanted not what they needed. It made them popular but we pay the price today.

But personally I believe it wasn't the ease of use as Windows 95 was far from easy to use. Windows 3.1 was easier. Windows got popular because you pirate it from the guy who bought the new PC. This got people used to the road bumps of Windows. Linux has differnt road bumps.

It's the same thing for OFFICE suites. Microsoft's office suite was 10 times harder to use than Word Perfect yet Word Perfect was hard to pirate while Microsoft's wasn't. People got used to the problems with MS OFFICE and forgot about Word Perfect. Then Word Perfect really sunk there ship by offering a Windows Version too late.
