Performance benefits across the board
Performance benefits, mostly it sounds like.

This will, of course, be most noticeable to Linux users after they recompile everything. Almost everything they run is compiled with the GCC compiler. This is one thing that will affect their system globally - they should see improvements across the board.

Windows users won't be affected as much, since Windows and most of their apps are not compiled using GCC. If they run apps such as GAIM or the Gimp, they may notice some improvement, but not as much as Linux users.
