I fail to see the profundity.
I mean, I use gcc. A new version will be nice and all...

But I fail to see what the "profound importance" is.

Better optimization? Great! But ... so?

The only thing in there that sounds like it has any significant importance at all is Mudflap, and that only because it might lead to better security in general.

I simply am not seeing why the article describes this as "profoundly important".

Maybe someone can enlighten me?
