Careful, NonZealot, you sound like a ZEALOT! happy
Can anyone tell the class why NonZealot's analogy doesn't work?
Class? Class? Anyone? Ferris?

Alright, well for the analogy to work, Apple would have to have
been legally described as a monopoly (holding a market share so
large there are few to zero competitors, as in Microsoft).

Since Apple is not a monopolist, it is not subject to the same
scrutiny. NonZealot argues that Apple is manipulative, but
Apple has yet to have been convicted of leveraging its monopoly
position to push others out of the market. Manipulative and
monopolist are not the same thing - one could argue that is why
there are two different words for them!

While mlindl does indeed believe that Microsoft has its evil side,
his brilliant and simple illustration as to why this story was news
is based on the fact that because MS is a convicted monopolist
they could very well be on the path again to leveraging their
monopoly position to shut others out of a market. Unlikely in
this case, but subject to scrutiny nonetheless.

(Brrrring) There's the bell, have a nice weekend.
