I agree with "mlindl"
Microsoft has been incredibly manipulative with MSN, from making MSN's home page have more features in Windows/IE to the MSN Video service, which functions exclusively on Windows/IE.

MSN intentionally makes almost everything to rely on ActiveX. MSN Entertainment is difficult to navigate on a Mac, MSNBC is harder to use on a mac, even Slate--A former Microsoft division--is harder to get around a Mac.

Admittedly, not all .Mac works on Windows, however it is not as difficult as MSN.

I would say though, that this announcement hardly surpises me, as Microsoft has not released new MSN software since 2002.
