Yes, because this is about leveraging one's
monopoly position.

Are they discontinuing support for Windows 98 users or even
Windows 95 users? Do they offer support for Linux users?

Because they are a monopoly, every move they make related to
other platforms is under scrutiny. Is this an excuse to make
MSN for Windows users only (as .Mac is) or another tactic to
create a platform-centric service to boost Windows sales?

The way MSN works, it is so Mac-unfriendly (as it is Linux
unfriendly) that one could judge that MSN is exploiting its
monopoly to push others out of a potentially lucrative
marketplace.
