Karimi's method works. ( REMOVE WMP 9 )
Go to "run" (on your start menu) and then type (without quotes) 'RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall' Click Ok, restart when prompted, and it's gone.

Yes, Karimi's method does infact work!!!...or at least it did for me!!! No wierdness on my system of any kind since. I disabled system restore a long time ago and thought I was screwed. But sure enough, that worthless pile of poo WMP9 is gone now, and everything seems to be great now (I use my computer for *everything* and have a billion programs on it FWIW).

I recommend his method for removal 100%

THANK YOU for posting that info!!! WMP9 is the biggest pile of garbage there is, and my system always ran glitchy and like crap from the second it went on.

Word to Microsoft...I can no longer trust your products. This has happened to many times...an "upgrade" that ends up trashing my computer. Unacceptable.

Never again. NEVER
