Another Way To Remove
I was unable to get karimi's method to work and after some searching I found this method at Microsoft's own media player newsgroup. All you have to do is go to the Add/Remove Program window and then select the Windows Components option. In the window that pops up there is a Windows Media Player Box and all you have to do is uncheck the box and hit next. This has worked for me so far...I don't know why Microsoft didn't tell us about this one either, .
