It's in the "DUH!" category, isn't it, Nigel?
I mean, the way it is now, the little guy has to fork over just as much money as the multi-national conglomerate as far as filing for and acquiring a patent, AND has to pay just as much as the big guy does when it comes to going after some dirt bag who infringes on it. So some outfit with deep pockets can just litigate you into the poor house: as the little guy, you don't have the resources to keep up.

And who gets rich? The LAWYERS! And who prospers? The bureaucrats who keep their overpaid jobs pushing the paper around.
