RIAA
When I play a CD on my computer, my program tells me that it is playing at 1411kb/s. When I play an MP3, my program tells me that it is playing at anywhere from 96kb/s to 320kb/s. Most of the MP3 downloads are at 128kb/s. There is no duplication of quality when converting from cda to mp3 format.
The recording industry has been cheating the public for years by selling the same song on other discs titled by another name. I have loads of duplicate songs by the same artist on more than one album. Now with these new "artist", they RIAA says that their sails are off. I think their clients music quality is farther off. The economy was down so people where just a little leary about wasting money on noise. For years, people have been taping songs from the radio onto cassette tapes. People have been copying movie off the air waves and even copying rental videos.
I write game levels in my spare time and have had my designs used by others to make money on their site. I can only tell them to stop using my material. They are in other countries and that is a problem. If the RIAA limits their actions to those in the United States that place the cda quality of songs on the web then I might go along with them. As far as the MP3 copy goes, I think the RIAA should be stopped. Money grabbing lawyers trying to make a living intimidating common citizens. The Chinese pirate 99% of all the software used in that country. Can you touch them. If I want to buy one song by an artist, I have to buy an entire over-priced CD. Buying a song for 99 cents off the web is a good way to go as long as I can get CD quality. Mp3 quality falls too short.
The RIAA is going too far and some group should stop them.
