Microsoft will only need to support a hypervisor, not hardware.
They will not support the special processor instructions directly. And, for Products like VMWare, Microsoft does not have to do anything, but it is slower. So, if Microsoft supports Xen (unlikely), it will work with whatever is supported by Xen. But, Microsoft will do whatever it can to hurt open source, but this has many uses besides running Windows alongside Unix/Linux. Probably where it will get used most is to run multiple versions of the same OS.
