Well on a 64 Processor Server
You can run several virtual servers. Still, having to license all of those servers would be insane.

With that problem of exchange server, I don't see why you continue to use it. We use Lotus Domino here, and it scales great. I am sure corporate uses Clustering to accomplish more, but for the most part, I would use Lotus out of the shear fact that backup and restore can be done at the mailbox level. Ofcourse then you also have replication which Lotus doesn't seem to have a problem with.

Running Exchange on the corporate scale is like using a go-kart engine in a Hummer.
