Sorry for the typo. You're right...
Yes, by and large the most dangerous of these have been taken out of the manufacturing process. Unfortunately for a good number of IBM employees it's too late.

The thing that is most depressing is that IBM was informed (by the chemical manufactures) of the dangers in no uncertain terms. And yet IBM continued to allow the exposure for 9 nine years. In fact several women have testified they specifically asked if there was a danger to their unborn children from the chemicals and were repeatedly told no, even though IBM knew there was.

But like many companies, IBM continues to fight these cases in court even when they know they are in the wrong. I suppose part of it is they hope many of the litigants will die before the cases are settled. I guess the idea of "community" to them is simply another way to bilk the innocent and uninformed.
