Consumer choice? What choice?
"Microsoft?s dominance isn't an accident, or a creation by forces beyond our control. Rather, it's the result of CONSUMER CHOICE"

Ha! What choice? Here in New Zealand I know of no computer shop that would ask "What OS would you like on your new PC?". Most people would not know that alternatives exist, especially if they are not offered them.

In fact, when I tried to buy a new PC without an OS, from a local vendor, I was told that they couldn't do that because it would violate their agreement with M$!

It is only recently that certain huge PC selling corporations (such as DELL) have been strong enough to shrug the pressure and offer a choice of OS to it's customers. Our company, for one, welcomed this choice and used it to purchase our first redhat pre-installed server several years ago (it's still running and has never crashed!).

It's about time you woke up and smelled the coffee. M$ only has a dominant position because of years of aggressive, borderline business practices. Not because of any degree of quality in their products.
