And get sued: because your forced update breaks the financial applications of at least 2 of my clients. I am seriously thinking of migrating those clients to OSS and using Crossover Office for the 3 or 4 Winblows only apps they need. In the case of these companies (small shops of under 20 users), the financial software vendor has flat out stated that XPSP2 explicitly breaks the application and they have no intent to correct the problem. SInce this application houses the entire companys financial records back to '93 or so, I really don't think they are willing to migrate to another application -- they are not Fortune 500 companies that can afford a one time migration price in the millions, and I am becoming more anxious that they are being forced to run an insecure service pack level on their XP machines. Yes, you can work around this by turning off automatic updates, and yes, M$ has stopped updating XP if its not at SP2, which is the root of my uneasiness.; Posted by: bobjones68@...
